Ken Edwards (born in 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri) was an American ceramicist trained at the Kansas City Art Institute, where he studied sculpture and ceramics. After furthering his studies in Japan, he moved to Tonalá, Mexico in the 1960s, where he helped introduce the first high-fire stoneware kilns to the region—a shift that transformed local ceramic production. He founded Ken Edwards Stoneware and developed a distinctive, hand-painted style blending Japanese influence with traditional Tonalá motifs. His pieces are valued for their craftsmanship and distinctive style. Edwards passed away in 2022 at the age of 96.
